Moments in tights

Image
I've been trying out some more products from Veneziana , they've been the perfect accessory for any occasion from a working day to a night out with my girlfriends. The show-stopping Ramage tights made a basic and boring 'Black dress for work' outfit into something a bit more unique.  These gorgeous patterned tights had a number of admirers and gave me a little boost on a busy Tuesday in the office. Ramage   On a typical early English spring day that started off sunny, then came the wind and then came the rain! The Geraldine tights simply saved the day. These tights have the X-Factor when it comes to comfort and style.  It was like wearing your favourite cashmere cardigan, the comfort level was that good. The  Geraldine tights gave me a lovely feeling of warmth on a blustery day I am rubbish at selfies! And last but not least, the most sexy pair of hold ups i have ever worn, simply gorgeous . . . the delightful Ar Fabiola . I wore these on...

Flower power

Image
Experiencing pre-Spring sunshine and these fab tights from Veneziana inspired this floral-themed work outfit.  The Marianne tights are just that little bit fabulous, I almost felt I was having a Shakira moment! They were the perfect accessory to complement the floral jacket that I bought on impulse at Primark but had no idea when or how I was going to wear it.  Naturally my trusty red shoes were added on for that extra pop of colour.  Here's to more sunny days!

Time to share

Image
Those lovely peeps at Veneziana sent  me a package of tights and socks to try out  and I wanted to share the Veneziana love around and see what a younger fashionista would think.  So the Girasole ankle socks were the perfect option for my niece 'O' to try out. Over the past couple of years, she has been building up her own fashion sense and her way of pairing cute shoes with pretty ankle socks for weddings and parties made her a perfect candidate for testing them out.  I think her Topshop shoes and the Girasole made a cute combination, what do you think?

Start spreading the news . . .

I'm leaving today . . . Well in a couple of months I'll be visiting New York, the city that never sleeps, the home turf of Carrie Bradshaw. My husband has treated us both to a holiday to New York to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary, I feel so incredibly spoilt and lucky.  I'm not sure if I have ever blogged about this but there have been occasions when I have been that excited for a holiday that I've packed my case nearly three weeks before the event!  However, I am trying to remain calm and am currently writing lists and ideas on what to take for the trip - any suggestions would be great. My holiday wardrobe has already been a source of concern to my husband who mentioned that I had a lot of shoes but no winter coat.  While it is a reminder to lock up my shoe collection from prying eyes (just kidding), the lack of a current winter coat isn't because I have spending all my money on my shoe obsession, its just that I haven't found that perfect coat yet...

A litle bit of sparkle does you good

Image
How hard is January,  you're back at work after the Christmas holidays . . .  its only weeks since Christmas Day and it feels like all work and no play. Rather than leave the sparkle and sequins behind with the boxed up Xmas decorations, I decided to sprinkle a little sparkle on my everyday work look with these lurex knee highs from Veneziana .

Naughty but nice

Despite the windy weather during Christmas, I couldn't resist wearing my new printed dress from New Look with my crazy Faith platform boots and a tuxedo jacket. Rather than accessorising with some boring sensible opaque tights, I chose these luxurious hold ups from Veneziana .  Gorgeous to wear, held up all night on Christmas Eve until it was time for the long, blustery walk home. cheeky

Keeping warm and chic

Image
Shoes from Las Vegas, tights  Rombo Grandi from Veneziana  Another day, another outfit . . . With gale force winds in not-so-sunny Blackpool, keeping wrapped up and warm is a necessity. While my workwear is currently the standard black dress and cardie, dressed up with a vintage brooch, my legwear is becoming a bit more adventurous with these tights from Veneziana .  I love these tights and accessorized them with this t-bar shoes to create a 'monochrome monday' outfit.

Pretty rose

I've been trying out some more products from the lovely people at Veneziana . Rather than stick to tights, I've been trying out their ankle socks, over the knee stockings and knee highs. The Opera Nero knee highs in black are really pretty, quite a difference to my normal opaque tights, I felt like a grown up Wednesday Addams .  Received lots of comments from my family on the pretty floral pattern.  Lovely to wear, great quality and most importantly easy to wash.   Veneziana  has a lot to offer for a girl with too many shoes!

Cutey - tooty

Its that time of year when the weather constantly changes; one minute its sunny, the next minute we've got freezing fog.  Keeping fashionably chic and warm is a constant compromise between living in my UGGs and freezing my toes off in a pair of heels. So, these cute Milano ankle socks from Veneziana are the perfect way for me to wear my heels and stay warm this winter.  With their rose pattern these are far too pretty to hide away under a pair of boots.

Time for Tweed

Image
Its time for me to ditch the black opaque tights and spend that little bit more on hosiery.  I admit, I've been a lazy shopper for a while just grabbing tights while doing the supermarket shop.  While I've saved some pennies, I've worn products that comprised on quality and comfort.  I'm giving my legs a break and saying no more to scratchy, bland tights.  Since the lovely people at Veneziana  have sent me some of their products to try out, I've had a re-think on quality over quantity and I've set myself an early New Year's resolution to make more of an investment in the products I want to wear. The  Tweed  tights are really cute, grey with little dotted flecks of colour, they're perfect for Autumn. I dug out some T-bar shoes I've had for a couple of years to wear with them.  I wish there was a way I could re-create the texture and feel of the tights for you via the photos, they were so soft and lovely to wear.  I've fallen in love with t...

Nice and 'knee-sy'

Image
As I've mentioned in earlier posts, I wanted to try something a little bit different with my outfits.  I've been a bit boring in my style choices and working full time and doing a part-time college course has meant that I have spent zero time on planning my wardrobe.  Now, with my final assignment submitted, I've got plenty of 'style-time' to get my fashion groove back. One of the main things I realise is that life is too short to keep shoes 'for best'.  So, each week I'm going to give a pair of my neglected shoes a chance to escape the shoe cupboard.  With autumn finally here, those shoes needs some great hosiery accessories to perfect my styling choices.  These Veneziana Circus Knee Highs gave me the inspiration to dig out my red heels for work.  I have to admit that these are the first knee highs I've worn since clubbing in the 1990's, but these were perfect for the 'post-club, I am over forty' Clare.   The Knee Highs were g...

Time to talk tights

Image
Its the perfect time of year to start thinking about tights.  I'm sure you've all packed away your sandals and holiday clothes now and are gearing up for the Autumn months.  With this in mind, I'm currently re-working my wardrobe to create some cool, fashionable outfits without breaking the bank.  I've been getting very staid in my outfit choices, so I'm choosing this Autumn to take forward some new stylish new looks both for work and home.  I'm been saving my lovely shoes 'for best' instead of using them for my everyday outfits and life is too short to leave them in the cupboard! So its the perfect time for receiving some lovely tights, ankle socks and knee highs from the lovely people at Veneziana to try out.  I can't wait to start accessorising my outfits and will post you the results over the next week.

Let's talk tights people

I remember the days when your choice of tights was limited to 10 denier and American Tan!  Now we are spoilt for choice, with the tights becoming just as much of a fashion choice as the rest of your outfit; rather than a basic necessity.  It's only a year ago that I braved wearing tights that weren't black opaque but now I've embraced the changed wearing purple or jade green opaques to match a Beth Ditto @ Evans dress I bought last night and today I'm wearing some lovely thick grey tights for work to rework my working wardrobe of black dress and black shoes. Many of you will have bought tights from Pretty Polly , a British firm providing hosiery since 1919.  Did you know that this famous firm's origins started with money won from a racehorse Pretty Polly , hence the name. Pretty Polly's products range from sleep socks, a fashion range to a slimming option.  There's also a House of Holland range and the jewel colours in their opaques...
