Shoe of the week

I've heard that green is going to be big this year, so naturally I've been on the hunt for a pair of shoes to meet the new season trends.  I found this pair online at Dorothy Perkins - what do you think?

Is it cocktail hour yet?

We're at the beginning of the second month of 2012 and I am still behind on posting stuff from 2011.  I have truly lost my mojo and struggling to write, so please bear with me.  This month, I'll have to do something creative to help me get back into the swing of things, maybe make a mood board or something - does anyone have any ideas on how to get inspired? Any suggestions gratefully received. Anyway back to what I'm posting about today . . .  I wanted to buy a cocktail ring for my birthday and decided on this gorgeous ring from Swarovski .  Apart from my wedding ring and a vintage bracelet my husband bought my over ten years ago, I haven't got any expensive jewellery but have a lot of costume jewellery that I don't really wear.  I wanted to invest in something that will last. So, I spent a bit of money on this as I wanted something that will last and luckily this will also go with my Louboutins.  It is just too pretty and I have not had chance to wear it ye

Its awards season in Hollywood and it will soon be time for the Oscars.  I think this shoe would be ideal for an A-lister to walk the red carpet.  They've got that old-school glam look that stars want to perfect on the night.  Dianne is part of the S/S from Kurt Geiger, I'm so glad to see the new shoes being released, roll on spring!

As another poll closes, another poll opens

I love blogger widgets and gadgets! So I thought I'd take advantage of the poll gadget again and add a new poll for visiters to my blog to take part in. My last poll about the size of your shoe collection and how much you spend on shoes was interesting: The majority who took part in the poll, spent up to 50 pounds on shoes; three visiters would spend between 200 - 300 pounds on a pair of shoes; the majority of poll participants had more than 50 pairs of shoes; and Two people had lost count of how many shoes they have (and I think one of them was me!). So thank you for taking part.  Now I've added another new poll, just one question to answer about what would be the first item on your shopping list if you were given a money to spend on yourself.  So please feel free to take part.

Shoe of the week

I need to take these shoes to the 'dorm! As my friends are jetting off in a couple of weeks to Benidorm, I'd thought I would search for a shoe that would be the perfect accessory for a weekend away in the sun.  These Kiss Me Quick heels from Office even have the right name for a spending time in a seaside resort and I'm sure they'll be guaranteed more sun in the 'dorm than in Blackpool. Perfect weather for peep-toes!

I chose to make a 'statement'

This post has been long overdue . . . I'm still struggling with feeling creative, I seriously need something to revitalise my mojo for blogging.  For this post I kept thinking of a post title like Just a splash of red or they had me at hello but if I don't post something today, I could be still here pondering my thoughts and not placing them in print by my next birthday! So here it is, a brief introduction to my Louboutins. Back in November, I celebrated my 40th birthday.  I must stress that I celebrated and did not commiserate my fourth decade of existence.  I spent a weekend in Liverpool where I enjoyed Tapas, shopping, cocktails, 80s retro bars (well really a strange basement bar, near the Cavern, where I got the chance to dance to Chesney Hawkes without derision) and reducing the multi-cultural divide with a number of people from the Scandinavia who were visiting for that weekend's Liverpool game.  Unfortunately at the point when three gentlemen from Greenlands

Its my first 'shoe of the week' nomination for 2012 and I want to take you back to the eighties! Available from Dune, these shoes with the sweetheart detail give a nod to the 1980's but you don't need a bat-wing jumper or drainpipe jeans to complete the look.  The sweetheart detail at the front will help you show a little toe cleavage, just enough to make the simplest outfit, just that little bit sexy.

If I learn one thing this year, then this should be it

During this Christmas, caring for an ill relative meant that all things medical were on my mind. Despite watching a number of medical programmes like Greys Anatomy doesn't mean that when 'push comes to shove' I'd be equipped to deal with medical emergencies. I've a basic understanding of CPR but not really sure of the key steps needed. So, this short film by the British Heart Foundation is ideal for someone like me who just wants to know the basics, the humour of the film is an added bonus. Who knew that Vinnie Jones might help save lives!

All that glitters should be gold

During the party season, its only right and proper that you indulge in something glittery!  So these shoes were my purchase for Christmas 2011.  They might not look it but they are really comfortable and perfect for the requisite cheesy disco dancing at my Christmas Do (well, its almost law that one must dance to Dancing Queen at least once at Christmas, although I might have done more than once due to some unplanned sambuca shots on Christmas Eve).  Sadly I've only had one opportunity to wear these lovelies, so the question I need to ask is - can you still wear glitter until Spring?

And so, another year commences . . .

I can't say I've had a good Christmas, sadly we lost my lovely Father-in-Law over the holiday period.  He was the close relative that I mentioned in my earlier post.  Although he was very poorly, all the family managed to help provide 24-hour care at home.  This meant that he got to spend Christmas up till Boxing Day at home, before he became too ill to be cared for in this way.  I can't say it was easy and it still amazes me now, what we as a family managed to get in place so we could ensure he was home as he wished.  It also highlighted to me, what the true spirit of Christmas is . . . its about family, love and hope.  I cannot imagine what's it would be like going through this, if you didn't have family to support you. There were good days and there were bad days, where possible I'm trying to focus on the good.  One good day, meant that he sat up in a chair, had a good meal and put all his favourite songs on.  I've posted one of them here in his memory.
