Shoe of the week

With my first two college essays to write, I am taking comfort in shoes! How pretty are the Contessa shoes from J.Crew? They remind me of  the sweet side of Easter - when its all about the search for Easter Eggs, the Easter Bunny and special meals with the family, happy days.

I spotted these at Wallis and they need to be added to my shoe collection as soon as possible. Pretty flats, ready for glam times, so let the sunshine begin.

Blogging on a local level

Being able to shop on my local high street; supporting local retailers and the economy is a plus for me.  Anything that helps raise awareness or gives someone inspiration to buy local is always a good thing. So, a competition to become the Fashion Blogger for the Houndshill Shopping Centre, our local shopping centre, sounded right up my street. And I have managed to get through to the final five!  I'm finalist Number 1 so please vote for me if you can.

48 hours in Berlin

Artwork on sections of the Berlin wall found near Checkpoint Charlie I'm back from Berlin and am catching up with college things and domestic chores so bare with me while I catch up with your blogs. I will do a fuller post later but I can definitely say that forty-eight hours in Berlin cannot do this city any justice.  With a population of over 3.5 million people and being one of Germany's largest city, Berlin has a lot to offer and plenty to see.  During a cold but dry weekend, I took my new camera to take some pictures of our travels. The Brandenburg Gate Part of the Berlin Wall, I spotted this 'Why' and thought it just summed up what the Wall did to the people of Berlin A Science building in East Berlin Using the U-Bahn with its sixties architecture The East Side Gallery, amazing artwork on a large section of the remaining wall I thought this statement said so much about making a change Hippos at Berlin Zoo

Inspired by my recent visit to Berlin, where I visited the amazing KaDeWe store (think Harrods-Berlin style)  I have chosen Brian Atwood for this week's shoe , available at NET-A-PORTER. This shoe has it all - gold leather, velvet, crystals and seventies inspiration. All you need is the style of Bianca Jagger, a jumpsuit and Studio 54 to re-open to ensure these shoes get the night out they deserve.

I'm still getting to grips with my new camera.  I'm using shoes as a 'still-life' and my dogs decided they wanted their portrait taking too!

Carven platforms Perspex is a key trend this year and I wasn't sure if it's one that I can really appreciate.  But, I've done the research and found a couple of shoe options that allows me to embrace the trend from the designer and high street options available. The one thing I can definitely say is that I don't like a shoe with a perspex heel, it does nothing for me, although these cute Lanvin sandals have nearly swayed me in the opposite direction. Fearne Cotton Fox Heels The Carven  platforms and  Fearne Cotton Fox shoes   from ISME, give you the perspex trend while keeping it simple and classic.  There are plenty of options available for all budgets, so will you be taking on this 'see-through' trend?

Berlin break-away

I am off to Berlin next weekend to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. The forecast currently says that on Friday Berlin will be anything from 2 to minus 9 centigrade! Scarves, gloves, jeans, boots and lots of layers is the plan for my capsule wardrobe.   Unfortunately, my idea of getting dressed up for an anniversary meal is 'out of the window' and dressing for warmth is in :( This Sunday, I also intend to plan ahead for my weekend and decide what I am taking with me.  A lesson learnt from my last weekend away in Bristol when I left it until the night before to pack and ending up taking five pairs of heels for a three-night stay (as I couldn't decide which ones to take). We are staying for three night and have two full days to check out the city and I'm hoping to see what East Berlin is like as its had considerable re-generation since I was last there in the nineties.  I will have my lovely new camera with me, so I will make sure to take lots of pho

Babycham do shoes! Sunday is always my shoe research day, now with my college work its become 'fit in as much as you can' day.  This has resulted in my comfort eating a bag of marshmallows as my goal of becoming a domestic goddess/college student/wife... fails drastically.  If only I could juggle reading a book while dusting and sweeping like Kate from Ben and Kate [see the clip at the end of the post, its worth it!]. Apologies, I have detracted from the post's purpose, which is to nominate my shoe of the week.  So, my research into shoes can be extremely technical, time consumiing and completed with the help of scientific formulas.  No  I tell a lie, its a result of either spotting a shoe in a magazine that I like, researching trends, running a search on a specific colour or shoe or using something close by to google.  So with those fluffy pink and white sweets, my research began.  As a result, let me introduce you to the Babysham (yes, that cute little drink from
