Early hours wedding

Still in good spirits at 2.30 in the morning!

Last Thursday night I attended a wedding. The mother-in-law to be wore a hat, the champagne was on ice, the party poppers were prepared for popping and the bride and groom . . . were around 12,000 miles away. When I said last night, I actually meant at 1.30 am in the morning and the wedding took place in Australia!

We 'attended' the wedding by Skype. Technology today amazes me, about 50 years ago Sylvia (newly crowned mother-in-law) emigrated with her family to Australia by ship which took around six weeks with around five port stops across the globe, keeping in touch was limited to telegrams and letters. This morning, we were able to watch live as her daughter and husband made their vows and we were able to join in the toast.   Despite the late hour we still managed to enjoy champagne and talk to the happy couple just minutes after the ceremony, such a wonderful moment for my friend and her family.

Despite being thousands of miles apart, the love and emotion of the day was felt across the world and I'm so glad I was part of it.xx

This sounds like so much fun and I love your description of the bubbly being on ice. I'd love to go to Australia sometime
