Not quite a 'high' heel

Image
I admit it, sometimes I have to consider my feet.  I love my heels, but they don't really love my feet.  Especially during holidays and city breaks, unless I am traveling door-to-door, heels just don't cut it, not if you want to go sight-seeing or mooching around food markets.  So, during a city trip to Manchester, I invested in these high tops from Dorothy Perkins during a pop-up 30 per cent sale in store.  Not quite as flash as Nike Blazers, these trainers give a fashionable hit to a casual wardrobe.  Plus the comfort level is very high, so my feet are very grateful for a break from the norm.

Being led astray

Image
I've been on a heel hiatus for a few months now.  Taking comfort in my existing shoe collection, I've been resisting the call to 'spend, spend, spend' on some much-needed retail therapy.  Its been hard to resist a cheeky shoe purchase, believe me walking into Harvey Nichols little Louboutin shop almost sent me into a shoe frenzy.  So, I finally succumbed to the lure of a bargain pair of heels in the Dorothy Perkins sale due to the over-encouragement from my husband.  His reasoning was quite logical . . . I liked them and they cost £22 in the sale.  I know it makes sense but I really was trying hard not to buy more shoes but I haven't got a pair of black heels with block colour so these fill a gap somewhere (who am I trying to convince!). So here they are, the latest edition to the 'I have too many shoes' shoe closet.  I'm thinking these are the perfect basis for the my Christmas Do 2013 outfit.

It had to be shoes

I am so predictable!  With forty pounds worth of vouchers to spend,  my thoughts turned to shoes.  These sparkly peeptoes from Dorothy Perkins caught my eye.  I must have been a magpie in a previous life as despite numerous shoe choices available, I kept being drawn back to these shoes.  I even got carried away and bought the matching clutch too! They are available online at a bargain £20, so there is time to end your weekend on a sparkly note!

This week's shoe had to be going for gold to join in the Olympic celebrations.  These shoes would have no difficulty in raising to first place in the fashion stakes.  The picture doesn't do them justice, they are so pretty and literally shine instore.

These shoes available at Dorothy Perkins are perfect for Spring and the lady-like chic trend.  They're available in black, mint, coral, cream and grey.  It's an ideal shoe to complement any nod to Mad Men you might be planning this spring.  I can just imagine Betty Draper wearing these with some capri pants, a crisp shirt and obligatory scarf and sunnies.

Looking for inspiration

I'm at home, its the weekend and I've developed a cold and sore throat.  Luckily the latest Glamour magazine sailed its way onto my doormat so I'm spending time indoors planning my spring and summer wardrobe.  Now I understand this year that the 'future's orange' this year so I've had a browse round to spot any shoes that might fit the bill.  Now I spotted these peep toe pumps by Chrissie Morris on the Matches website. These would definitely be on my shopping list if I had a limitless budget. Isadore python peep toe pumps available on Matches However these cork heels from Dorothy Perkins meet my high street budget. Plenty of choice on the high street But before I spent any pennies updating my wardrobe, I checked my shoe collection to see if I have anything already suitable and I do! So the search continues for the missing shoe, there have still been no sightings.  If Crimewatch could add a new 'missing shoe' section then I'd definitely be reporting this 'crime'.  It put me in a wardrobe dilemma, I needed to buy a pair of flat shoes to go with some wide palazzo pants I've got for work, not that I need an excuse to buy shoes!.  Rather than stick to classic black, these printed Sacha London pumps at my local Dorothy Perkins can't my eye.  Reduced to £17, they were also a great option for my purse strings! They were accompanied by a little dust bag (why can't all shoes have these!) in a great silver shoe box and were wrapped in tissue paper. They would have made a perfect gift to someone, well I would have been happy to receive them. They've got a lovely print and chain detail at the front.  They also feel more sturdy then some of the cheaper options on the high street.  I wore them for work today and can't definitely gi...

The back up plan

When in doubt, wear red. ~ Bill Blass So this bank holiday I suffered the age-old problem that women face - a night out with the girls, a wardrobe of clothes but nothing to wear! All the girls had their outfits planned (various versions of the LBD) and had bought something new to wear for the night.  I had my heart set on finding a dress but with limited choices available in Blackpool my search failed.  I am, what you would call a plus-size girl, not through choice, so finding a style that fits and is flattering can be a struggle.  Having endometriosis has had an impact on my body shape; a resulting large stomach operation has meant that I have little muscle tone in my midriff section. So finding a good, tailored outfit to flatter my figure is a priority but is this what the shops offer?  Sadly no,  its really limited, you might find the perfect dress available in sizes 6 - 22 but as the sizes increase, so the style of the dress is altered beyond the initi...

Making a statement

Image
As a curvy girl (not quite a pear shape and not quite an apple shape) I struggle to find the perfect outfit for a night out. I rely a lot on finding a perfect Little Black Dress (LBD) that I can use as a blank canvas. Then, with just a change of accessories - statement jewellery, a hot pair of heels or a gorgeous clutch - a fabulous outfit can be created, time and time again. One of the latest acquisitions to my shoe collection is a pair of hot pink suede heels from the Luxe Collection by Dorothy Perkins (another Christmas present from my husband - aren't I a lucky girl). The LBD is a perfect compliment to these shoes; they really finish a classic outfit.
