What the cool kids are wearing

I'm not sure what age I was, when I discovered my own style.  It feels like it only happened in my thirties when I finally felt like I knew what suited me and what style I like.  I had a fascination with shoes since I was around five and was bought a yellow pair of sandals that I virtually lived in (will have to dig out a photo to show you). But fashion then was limited with mostly handmade items and the high street didn't really cater for kids.

But now, our fashion-forward teens and tweens are finding that the high street is theirs for the taking and they are doing it in style.  While we know what designer clothes Harper Seven, Suri Cruise and Romeo Beckham are wearing, its what the kids on the high street are wearing that's getting noticed.   With high street stores like River Island and H & M providing clothing lines for the under 16's, the retail sector is finally realising that fashion starts young.

I spotted Miss Isla, a young fashionista in the making and under 10 years old, at a friend's party a couple of weeks ago wearing these fabulous red patent dr martens with the denim shorts (the standard item every girl should have in her wardrobe) and a cute white top.  Simple, classic yet the perfect fashion statement for a cool kid on the high street.  What are your cool kids wearing?

Hi there! wow, DMs with a side zip, that is so now!! My boys are very much into their Nikes and my favourite footwear of choice are ankle boots-I've just managed to get some flat ones last month, so now have a nice variety in my wardrobe! xx
