Shoe of the week

Shoe of the week . . . Really? For the current weather we are experiencing, I should be nominating a pair of waders of the week!  With May apparently going to be the wettest month this year, a pair of wellingtons rather than a great pair of heels is what you need.  But why should they be boring. These wellies from Funky Wellingtons should be enough to brighten any dismal day. Got to protect those paws I can't forget my four-legged friends during the wet weather, our dogs still need to get outside and exercise but it doesn't mean they are waterproof!  So, a set of boots for dogs would be perfect to ensure those lower to the ground are protected from the cold too!.

I've detoured off the high street for shoe of the week.  The shoes from See by Chloe caught my eye and they'd be perfect for a Sunday brunch somewhere special.

No pins needed

I've been struggling for inspiration and trying to create mood boards to get creative.  I've finally signed up to Pinterest and I'm addicted.  As you're probably aware, Pinterest gives you the opportunity to create virtual noticeboards where you can 'pin' things that you see and like on the internet.  Here's a link to my pinterest boards , let me know if you're using Pinterest and I'll take a look at yours

I love to spend my sundays just browsing the web to find my shoe of the week, just wish I had unlimited funds to buy them too :( My nominated shoe, sums up what summer should be all about:fun, sun, style and a really high wedge. This week's shoe is available at Miss Selfridge and I spotted it in one of those Sunday paper supplement magazines, while trying to avoid reading about Simon Cowell's affair with Dannii Minogue?!

The night a street preacher 'saved our soles'

A couple of weekends ago I spent a few days in Chester celebrating my friend Mandy's 40th birthday.   There were five of us who made the trip to Chester, let's call us the 'fabulous five'.  Its nicer to have weekends away with smaller groups, there are less people to please and its easier to grab a table or ensure that everyone can get in the same bar. That's me in the blue out in Chester celebrating Cocktails were definitely on the menu and shots were always a good way to end an evening, especially cherry cola shots. the perfect companion for the long walk home Did you know that there are street pastors who walk around Chester during the weekend at night, handing out flip flops to ladies that can no longer walk in their heels, thus 'saving their soles' from walking barefoot around the Chester cobbles?  Well my friends bumped into them outside a bar and we were all given these freebies, ready for when we wanted to ditch the heels.  Unfortu

I need more practice!

I've had a gifted iPhone for a few weeks now but I am complete rubbish at taking pictures with it! It's a 3g not the latest model but it's great for taking pictures when I'm out and about.  If only I knew how to do this properly! I thought I should be a bit braver and post pictures of myself on the blog, so here I am getting ready for a meal to celebrate my wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago.  I'm wearing a playsuit borrowed from my sister that's a bit 1940's style and I've had my hair dyed red to live out my first year as a forty year old with a bit of colour.

Starting over again

Image
I've had a bad start to 2012 and I've really struggled over the past few months to get inspired and get back to blogging on a regular basis.  The quality of my posts has been quite simply tragic.  So, I started with a small mood board to try and get back into a better blogging routine.  Its made up of vintage brooches, my style icons, shoes I like and some cocktail recipes I need to try out. I am now waiting for an invite to Pinterest so I can set up my virtual boards for more inspiration, please let me know if you use Pinterest so I can see what inspires you.

Wedding outfit basics

Image
I haven't had chance to wear my lovely Louboutins yet, but my cousin is getting married in September, so you can bet that my outfit plan will start with these red-soled lovelies! I've decided to continue with the bold colours for the outfit and pick up this fabulous green dress as an outfit inspiration. It was only 12 pounds from Primarni and I don't think the quality of the material will withstand a full day and night of partying.  But its a good starting point for finding or making the perfect dress for those LBs!

I spotted these in a style magazine and I fell in 'fashion lust' with them.  Hope you are having a nice Easter weekend.

Bargain Basement Boots

Image
A few weeks ago I was feeling really sorry for myself.  But, I think the gods of retail were looking down on me when I popped to our local Tesco supermarket for milk and a loaf and came home with these boots. The best part about it, was how much they cost; priced at £25.00, I got them for the princely sum of 50 pence! You can't even buy a packet of Smarties for that.   I nearly didn't spot them as the bargain basket in the shop was surrounded by ladies who weren't for moving.  So I had to dive in like one of those grab machine at an amusement arcade and grab myself a pair.  Luckily I managed to get a pair in my size and got myself to the self service tills to 'ring' up my purchase.  PS I didn't forget my milk and loaf.

If you've given up shoes instead of chocolates for Lent, then it will soon be time to treat yourself again.  These shoes from Barratts online would be perfect for the Easter weekend.
