Liv's first pair of heels

Sometimes you don't realise how quick time flies.  It only seems like yesterday that my niece Liv was a little girl , now she's thirteen and has a better social calendar than me!  She just seems to have 'shot up' and grown into a lovely young woman.  She's developing her own style that suit a teenage budget but is also age-appropriate.  What's also great but has still taken me by surprise is that she knows what suits her and makes her own style choices, long gone are the days of buying her what I think she'd suit! 

She has a birthday party in a really cute club in Blackpool to go to and also my mum's birthday dinner in a few days, so she's bought two dresses for the occasions - a navy dress with scalloping, layered detail (for the club party) and a cream vintage style dress (for the birthday dinner) that I want her to wear with some brown lace up worker boots.  She's bought her first pair of heels for the party from New Look to wear with her new outfit.  The heel size is perfect for her first pair of heels, just right for dancing and perfect enough not to be a killer heel.  I had to think back to remember what my first heels were like, I bought them with wages from the hotel I worked at during the holiday season, they were a pair of cream satin stilettos - hey it was the eighties! What were your first heels?

I bought those same sandals from a car boot sale a few weeks ago and goodness, they are so comfy and well as being pretty.
My first heels were some crepe soled wedges with a triple buckle fastening. I think they were from Curtess in about 1977. xxx

My first heels were when I was about 6/7 I think, just small ones obviously and I was only allowed to wear them at home. They were little white shoes with a chunky heel, I remember thinking the heel was huge but it was probably about 1cm. xx

Awww how sweet, I remember my first pair of heels, I was about 9/10 my gran bought them for me in Blackpool. I'm not sure how to describe them, but I remember wearing them to school one day and getting told off xxx

I remember my first pair of heels were hand-me-downs from my older sister when I was about 9 or 10. The were 3 inches high & black patent (probably quite inappropriate looking back now!) My mum wasn't keen, but because I idolised my older sister, I just had to have them when she no longer wanted them!

Today, I was 'spotted on the street', well I suppose you could say spotted in the mirror! I've been meaning to do a post on the boots I own but just haven't got round to doing one yet.  So today, as I've started walking to work due to my car being very poorly. The need to get my dogs Jasper and Harvey to and from doggy-day care (my mum's but didn't it just for one second sound like I was Paris Hilton!) means I needed some boots that were made for walking. where do I start?

I've been neglecting my blog for the past few weeks while I've been suffering from a horrible chest infection.  I've just not had the energy to research shoes and window shop the latest that the high street has to offer. So now I'm dosing up on medicine and determined to get myself back on track. To help kick start my research, I've treated myself to some magazines, including the latest InStyle magazine, with the fabulous Dannii Minogue gracing the front cover. She is one of my favourite style crushes, especially after last year's X Factor.  In my humble opinion, she definitely won the X-Factor fashion crown! In the Style Candy section, they've listed a lovely pair of shoes available at asos.com that meet the nude trend while tickling your fancy with a feather embellishment. Goodbye 2010

As the door to one year closes, another opens Well 2010 is coming to a close.  It's been a mixed bag of a year: a new government in place, Royal Wedding announcements and the plight on miners trapped underground gripped the world.  For me, there were two significant milestones - my first wedding anniversary and the first year since my sister underwent treatment for cancer with an all-clear (we will have five years of these yearly milestones to go through).  In addition, one of my best friends had her first baby and my cousin got engaged on Christmas Day so we have had a couple of great events, which has made a real change from the last couple of years!
