New 'kids' on the block

Image
I haven't bought a pair of shoes in quite a while, so I really wanted something for a small budget that would tick a trend and be perfect for summer.  These heels from New Look were under £20, tick two trends -  block heels and ankle straps - and are nude, the perfect understated colour for summer. For their first outing, I teamed the shoes with a bright green crepe  top  from Tesco, a pair of Demi Curve Levi's and some gold jewellery but completely forgot to accessorise with my trusty camera to get an outfit shot!.

Shoe of the week

Image
This week's shoe is a bit lovely, isn't it? With spring, just around the corner, its time to start slowly revealing our toes to the world.  So these peeptoes - the Black Twiggy Bow Peeptoe Court Shoes - from Chinese Laundry at New Look are the perfect way to start your fashion 'spring clean' early.

Let's get wed

Image
My wedding shoes I've been meaning to write this post for a while, it's taken a wedding and meeting a couple of brides-to-be to finally push me into action. Shoes are becoming the second most important decision to make after the dress, google 'wedding shoes' and you currently get 316,000,000 results to choose from, there are plenty of options to choose from.  They are bought, borrowed or given.  They're either chosen to make a statement, there's a personal reason for wearing them (the something old...something new...tradition) or simply they'll provide comfort on the Big Day; taking you from a walk down the aisle to your first wedding dance without the need for regular rest periods and corn plasters! My wedding shoes cost £20 from New Look back in 2008.  My wedding had a non-existent budget and very little time for wedding-planning - we decided to get married in August 2008, booked the Vegas chapel in January 2009 and got wed ...

Spotted on the street

Image
Its been a while since I've done one of these posts but these are a couple of the shoes that I've spotted on the street recently, well actually at a family meal last night. So, my sister Tara treated herself to this wedges from New Look although I have an unconfirmed rumour that she has bought these in two colours! And my friend Linzi has treated herself to some sequin Toms .  I really like the idea behind Toms where you buy a pair of shoes and a pair of shoes is then donated to a child in poverty. Getting them in sequins and doing a bit for charity seems like a great incentive to do some retail therapy don't you think!

Working 9 to 5

Let me introduce you to my new work shoes. They're from New Look and currently now at a bargain price of £19.99.  I've gone for something completely different that my usual court shoes and these are a bit fun, a bit cute and have a bit of a heel on them.  The pictures don't really do them justice, they do look better in the 'flesh'.  They are kind of retro, so it might help me re-invent my work wardrobe that's got a bit stale.  I'm thinking they might inspire me to add a bit of glamour to the daily grind and get me through the working day.  How high! I couldn't resist a bit of Dolly to really help kick start a good working day! I had to include a picture of Harvey, our permanent lodger. Every time I wanted to take a picture of the shoes, he wanted to get in on the shot.  Here he is, looking less than impressed with the hair cut we've recently given him. My photography assistant

Liv's first pair of heels

Sometimes you don't realise how quick time flies.  It only seems like yesterday that my niece Liv was a little girl , now she's thirteen and has a better social calendar than me!  She just seems to have 'shot up' and grown into a lovely young woman.  She's developing her own style that suit a teenage budget but is also age-appropriate.  What's also great but has still taken me by surprise is that she knows what suits her and makes her own style choices, long gone are the days of buying her what I think she'd suit!  She has a birthday party in a really cute club in Blackpool to go to and also my mum's birthday dinner in a few days, so she's bought two dresses for the occasions - a navy dress with scalloping, layered detail (for the club party) and a cream vintage style dress (for the birthday dinner) that I want her to wear with some brown lace up worker boots.  She's bought her first pair of heels for the party from New Look to wear with her n...

Spotted on the street

Now the sunny weather is finally here, everyone is ditching the sensible shoes and tights and re-discovering their toes and embracing sandals. I spotted Kerry in these cute wedges bought from New Look last year.  I usually see Kerry in pretty flat pumps and despite the high heel, the shoes surprisingly comfortable and look brand new.  Teamed up with a cute floral dress, the shoes were perfect for working in the office and would be just as perfect for popping to a bar after work for a nice glass of  Rose. Now these shoes aren't available now but New Look does have a wide range of wedges to suit different styles, so definitely worth a look. So there are these . . . And  these . . . And finally these (my personal favourites)

Wedding Shoes

Image
I got married in 2009 in Vegas, we didn't have years to plan the wedding but wanted something small, not to fussy. Hence we went to Vegas! I didnt want a formal white wedding dress but something to go with my most treasured pair of shoes - Marc Jacobs I bought in San Fran a couple of years earlier (worthy of their own blog post later)The dress I chose was both different and not my first choice - it was salmon pink, had netted skirts and certainly didn't match my marc jacobs pale blue mary janes! However, finding the right shoes wasn't such a dilemma. I found a cute pair of silver shoes in New Look that really suited the dress. Another bonus was that they were kind of sixties style and reminded me of my mother's wedding shoes which I'd always liked. It helped me obtain a vintage style that I like and perfectly matched the vintage bouquet that a friend made for me. check out the picture!
