Where were you in 1981?

With the build up to Wills and Kate's (I just can't call her Katherine) wedding next week, I just can't help thinking about past Royal Weddings. While all of the Queen's children have now married (or re-married), Charles and Diana's has always stood out as one of the most important Royal Weddings of our time.

Obviously there has been comparisons today with Charles and Diana's wedding in 1981 but I don't quite think that the 2011 wedding will quite have the 1980's excesses that really defined the era from Diana's dress with the 25 foot train and the glass carriage that took her to her royal destiny.  The whole country stopped still to watch them kiss on the balcony.  So I wondered, where were you in 1981?

I was 9 1/2 in 1981 and that summer me and my family were at Butlins in Skegness with a coachload of family and friends.  On the day of the wedding, every function room, bar and lounge had television screens showing the wedding.  It was a beautiful long, hot summer day, just perfect for a wedding.

I was on holiday in Tenerife and was completely gutted about missing the wedding as I was obsessed by Diana and totally loved her. My boyfriend recording it on Video for me and I watched the whole day, on tape after tape, before I even unpacked! I was 18 I think? I used to buy Diana Annuals, they are still at my Mums! When she died, as I worked in London at the time, I went from the City to Kensington Palace and laid flowers and to see everything that people had left was amazing. I still believe the British Government were behind her death and nobody will ever change my mind, far too many cover ups for my liking.
