It's official, I am only six months away from my fortieth birthday milestone. To take comfort during this upsetting time I bought some cupcakes from my local shop
Cupcake.
Deciding whether or not to celebrate this milestone is an easy decision, you can't beat Father Time, you just have to join him and party. So I'm busy planning a couple of events to mark the occasion and embrace my fourth decade! God, that sounds horrid.
I think the ageing process is relative, no one really looks their age or needs to act their age these days. People leave their childhood homes later, marriage is no longer something to be achieved before you're thirty and with the fabulous facial serums, you can keep ageing at bay. To be honest I think forty is the new thirty!
I'm no longer setting myself timescales to achieve things by a certain time. In the past few years I've realised that life just sometimes throws you a curve ball and you never follow a truly straight path through life. Its funny, I was thinking the other day about what I wanted to achieve in life. Over twenty years ago, I said that I would be married with two children by the time I was 25. Well that didn't happen, I married at 37 and don't have kids, I was definitely not master of my own destiny. So I'm not setting any milestones to meet for my 40th other than I'd better get a bloody good pair of shoes!

Why have one cupcake when you can have two (I shared them, honest!) |

Look on the bright side. By the time you get to retire, the state pension age will be 90 years. So, you only have fifty years of working life to go, before you get those comfy slippers!! :-))
Vintage Vixen - I'm with you on that so I'm planning four events to celebrate the occasion.
Wendy - I hear you, I'd be perfectly happy to age but be able to official stay age 35.
Looking Fab - the cupcakes were soo good! I think I'll cancel serums and get more sleep instead.
I've tagged you in my latest post - http://hazelsworldofjoy.blogspot.com/2011/06/tagged-8-things.html
