It had to be 'shoe'

Image
I've been extremely restrained from making any shoe purchases over the past year.  I'm not sure if its because I've been busy in the first full year in my job, that I've had to choose practicality over a high heel or I just haven't felt inspired by the choices on the high street but I just haven't felt that urge to buy.   And I love shoes, they are the one thing that I would buy before anything else, I just haven't had that impulse to grab a pair of shoes of the shelf and pop them at the counter to pay.  So, I'm easing myself back into a love affair with shoes with this little sales purchase from Matalan

Forward planning

Buying sandals in the autumn sounds like a crazy idea and I have definitely not made plans to wear socks and sandals in the colder months.  These are a sales purchase from Clarks that I am putting away for a planned trip to New York in May. My lists for the trip have already begun!

Being led astray

Image
I've been on a heel hiatus for a few months now.  Taking comfort in my existing shoe collection, I've been resisting the call to 'spend, spend, spend' on some much-needed retail therapy.  Its been hard to resist a cheeky shoe purchase, believe me walking into Harvey Nichols little Louboutin shop almost sent me into a shoe frenzy.  So, I finally succumbed to the lure of a bargain pair of heels in the Dorothy Perkins sale due to the over-encouragement from my husband.  His reasoning was quite logical . . . I liked them and they cost £22 in the sale.  I know it makes sense but I really was trying hard not to buy more shoes but I haven't got a pair of black heels with block colour so these fill a gap somewhere (who am I trying to convince!). So here they are, the latest edition to the 'I have too many shoes' shoe closet.  I'm thinking these are the perfect basis for the my Christmas Do 2013 outfit.

Plans for the summer

Image
Perfect for the holiday wardrobe   So it's just two days until 2013, the wind and rain is relentless in Blackpool and I am sat in my pajamas in bed thinking about the summer!  Unfortunately, there are limited opportunities to buy decent plus size fashion in Blackpool so I haven't really missed venturing outside to join other shoppers in the thirst for a bargain. But, its the perfect weather to research online possibilities while enjoying a baileys on ice.  And it's great to discover new sites for plus size fashion like Millers which offers some fab bargains to ladies in Australia and New Zealand. Next year, I definitely need to invest in a maxi dress and the site has a number of options to choose from to build up that capsule wardrobe; whether its a day time outfit you're looking for or something for the evening.   The prices are reasonable too, saving those much needed pennies to put towards your holiday fund.  Happy shopping ladies!

Shoe of the week

Image
On the eve of New Years Eve, it only seems right to nominate a shoe that you should be wearing to welcome in the New Year. Available in the online sale at Selfridges, the Rachel Zoe Peggy snakeskin sandals are the perfect accessory for a party, just add a little black dress and ensure you have in your hand classic cocktail to ring the New Year in.

I cannot lie . . . I did buy . . .

Resistance was futile! I have tried and tried to be strong but I needed a least one shoe purchase from the January sales.  So I have purchased a pair of Lipsy nude sandals from Additions Direct for a bargain price of £24.50! The platform and heel have a hint of gold and the sole is tyre-track style (I hope that is the right description) so I have a firm grip when trying to walk in these babies.  I've just found out that I have an engagement party in March to go to, so may have to break these shoes in ready for the big event. I've had quite a lazy weekend, watching films, walks in the park and hot chocolates . . . so feel quite relaxed for the week ahead.  I know generally that January is that kind of month where nothing happens and everyone goes into a slump but I don't want to get stuck in a rut, so I looking for ways to kickstart my year; hopefully with the first party written in my diary, my social diary will get a kick-start too! What's January like for ...

Hitting the sales

Image
I can honestly say that I've really resisted the sales shopping this Christmas and January. I have checked out a couple of websites (shoe shops of course!) but not really been tempted to spend. However, I succumbed to temptation and made a purchase. I do have to say that this is an investment piece. I researched reviews and selected a more expensive piece rather than opt for the cheaper product with less than glowing reports. I've gone for classic monochrome that will be timeless, season upon season. So have I made you eager to see my purchase? Well here it is - The key to domestic bliss I bought a iron! Not just any iron but a Bosch Steam Station. I've spent £100 pounds on an iron! My old iron was basically exhausted after nine loyal years of service. Apparently my new iron is the perfect accessory for budding domestic goddess with ironing time reduced by 50%, providing more time to whip up a cake, dust or my personal favourite browse blogs or websites. To be honest, it...

Shoe of the week

This week is a good time to snap up a bargain if you are visiting the Debenhams site as there is 25% off all departments till Saturday 11th September!  I feel this is a great excuse to do some necessary shoe shopping, it makes sense to take advantage of money savings in this current climate! My shoe of the week is the Miss KG Grey Minnie  high heels which have been reduced to a bargain £60.  While these beauties could look fabulous on a night out, I would actually use these to make a statement in the office.  I'd team them up with a black shift dress, keep things simple and just stride on into the office with You've Got the Love playing in the background.  It would definitely be one way of making an entrance! Enjoy the sales! xx

Sometimes being average ain't so good . . .

Image
. . . Or is it? According to WikiAnswers the average women's UK shoe size is 5 and getting bigger.  So it makes sense that shoes in size 5 and 6 are the most likely to go first when the sales hit the shops.  That is why I, being in the average shoe size of the UK, struggle to pick up bargains unless I'm first through the door.  Next launched their sale last week, so I took a casual browse in my local store to see what possible shoe bargains I might find.  These lizard-look blue shoes, reduced to £15, took my fancy. Unfortunately only size 3 and 4 were left on the shelf, so no purchase could be made.  I'm not even going to look at the online site , I'd honestly be tempted to buy the shoes and other items I don't really need just to justify the added delivery charge. Perhaps that's not a bad thing, having limited choices on what I can buy, does mean that I spend less and that can't be all that bad can it?
