Feeling a bit flat

Image
I've haven't been blogging much, as I have been trying to balance full-time work and my part-time PR course.  Unfortunately, I think lack of work, life and balance has caused a rather painful stress/allergic reaction on my feet and I am currently living in these flat pumps from George.  Wish I had realised something wasn't right before a trip London mid week, when I wore these classic heels. Trying to navigate the underground and crowds at Euston station weren't ideal conditions for what can only be described as the feeling of having hot, sharp stones in my shoes. Thank goodness nude shoes go with everything!  Fingers (or should it be toes) crossed that I will be walking in high heels soon. I do feel the need for someone to design some fashionable slippers that could pass as shoes for the office right now.

Nude shoes on the block

Sadly my bargain, value-range nude shoes went to that big shoe-box in the sky a few weeks ago.  I think over-use may have been the cause of their demise. Their lifespan of a year and half against a cost of £13 meant I really had them for a longer time than their life expectation.  I woke up one day after a girl's night out to find them in a state of disrepair [I blame that bottle of house rose wine I was enjoying!]. I was a bit cheesed off at having to chuck them out but my husband couldn't understand why I'd be bothered about a cheap pair of shoes when I have a pair of designer shoes in my wardrobe.  He doesn't understand that a nude pair of shoes is essential in every woman's shoe collection.  So after raising a glass [when will I learn?] to my faithful outfit essentials, I went searching for a replacement pair, finding these Ravel shoes in a sale at £32.  Handle With Care Hopefully these will last a little longer than my last pair but judg...

A week in a post

Image
Finding a red rose of St George's Day can be problematic I've just had a long week off work and I could have drafted a incredibly long post of what I did on my week off.  However, after having some rotten dental treatment and a migraine this week, I thought I'd keep it simple and use pictures more than words.  I'm trying to improve my photo-taking skills, this time last year I relied on fun cameras so going digital is taking its time! So the first thing I learnt this week was . . .   my friend Linzi gets more excited for St Georges Day than Christmas.  As soon as her birthday in February has passed, she starts planning for the big day with her outfit planned with military precision. navy shorts, vintage style blouse and the red rose was the look of the day nude heels from Primark I discovered that . . .   'tractor' soles were a walking sensation  Nude lipsy heels I bought these nude heels back in January and I haven't had chance to we...

New shoes, nude shoes

Image
I needed some new shoes for work, my shoe collection is split into two camps - the premiership which are my shoes that I save 'for best' and the reserve side which are my work shoes. My work shoes are either bought specifically for work or are shoes relegated from the premiership due to poor performance or my love for them has waned but I still need to get my value for money.  Its not that I don't wish to wear some of my 'premiership' shoes for work but either driving in them or walking the 40 minute trek to work (with my dog in tow for half the journey) would be impractical. I needed some new shoes for work and rather than stick to the usual black court shoes, I've decided to dip into nude for Spring. I bought this about a month ago from Additions Direct (unfortunately I can't find a link to them on the site). I quite like the retro look about them and its still got a heel but I'll not cripple myself  while marching to work on the beat of my ipod....

I cannot lie . . . I did buy . . .

Resistance was futile! I have tried and tried to be strong but I needed a least one shoe purchase from the January sales.  So I have purchased a pair of Lipsy nude sandals from Additions Direct for a bargain price of £24.50! The platform and heel have a hint of gold and the sole is tyre-track style (I hope that is the right description) so I have a firm grip when trying to walk in these babies.  I've just found out that I have an engagement party in March to go to, so may have to break these shoes in ready for the big event. I've had quite a lazy weekend, watching films, walks in the park and hot chocolates . . . so feel quite relaxed for the week ahead.  I know generally that January is that kind of month where nothing happens and everyone goes into a slump but I don't want to get stuck in a rut, so I looking for ways to kickstart my year; hopefully with the first party written in my diary, my social diary will get a kick-start too! What's January like for ...

Cheap as chips

I wanted a pair of nude shoes for a planned Christmas outfit but needed to save the pennies to spend on Christmas presents.  Lucky for me then that I spotted this nude platform heels in my local Barratts shop priced at £13, with an extra instore discount I bought them for £10.97! These were part of their value range, no frills supplied with no shoe box but can you complain at those prices!  The range was quite simply consisting of these nude heels, the same in black, patent and peeptoe. I've not found the range on the website so in must be just an instore promotion but not bad if you need a quick fix to a party outfit.  The online site currently has a 20% off  everything promotion, so if you don't have chance to pop to your local store then you might find a bargain online. The shoes are really comfortable to wear and I hoping, snow permitting, to wear them for my first Christmas event on Sunday - a visit to Manchester for the Christmas markets, cocktails and kar...

Sharing the love

This pair of heels I acquired on my search for the perfect pair of nude shoes (I've yet to find a pair I'd really like but perhaps I'll renew my search when its my fortieth next year, maybe my husband will treat me to some Jimmy Choos!?).  Anyway, I've had these shoes a few years now but they've been languishing at the top of my wardrobe and I've not really used them.  These shoes lasted through a long girl's weekend in Majorca  so it seems a shame to just leave them on the shelf.  Luckily my younger sister is a similar shoe size to me and has taken the nude trend to heart, so my shoes are getting a second airing.  Usually I only get rid of shoes when they are basically not fit for purpose but its nice to pass this pair on for a new lease of life!  As its the bank holiday, I'm off out with the girls for a few drinks, the outfits have been planned and the nude shoes are making an appearance too.  I hope you are all having a glamorous and fab weekend t...
