Earlier this year, I noticed that my Jack Russell Jasper had developed some lumps and bumps and we took him for a check up.  He actually had developed two hernias and needed to have an operation to have them removed and be castrated which will hopefully reduce any more hernias developing. Luckily for us, we spotted the problem early so the condition didn't develop to the point of damaging his bladder.  We've had him for ten years and this was the first real health issue we'd ever had and it was a definite learning curve for us.  I mean how do you keep an groggy, disorientated dog still so he can recover? Did you know that dogs can be given tramadol! After a couple of days doped up, Jasper made a good recovery and has developed a couple of pampered habits. He has now got used to lots of extra cushioning and being tucked up in this blanket!

Recent-ish purchase - cute flats from Dorothy Perkins Shoes new, house step vintage Got my Louboutins re-soled by a great cobbler Gary at Timpsons Blackpool who really knows his shoes, good to know for future repairs My dog Jasper, has an unfeasibly large nose in this close up I love the Coke 'name' campaign, I found two with mine and my husband's name on them I do have a bit of an addiction to 'full fat' coke and even though I know that one bottle can contain around 11 teaspoons of sugar I still can't resist it! As my husband now knows, coke is for Clare . . . not for sharing! Sangria turns any rainy day into summer Shoe's first day out, first time I've worn these yellow lovelies despite having them for over six months! Bad shoe day

Harvey takes care of business These past few weeks, I've been in a bit of a rush: lack of sleep, lots of work, domestic goddess duties and total dis-organisation caused a temporary lack of fashion focus last week.  I had dug out a pair of summer shoes without thinking (yes, we actually had a sunny day last week!). By the time I got to work, it was too late to realise that I had on a pair of dated but most importantly uncomfortable pair of shoes I own.  And somehow, due to a packing mishap these heels had become scuffed, so not only were they painful, they were also battered.  What was I thinking?  As soon as I got home, they were heading straight for the bin. Luckily at home I have Harvey, the Jack Russell equivalent of a CIA Cleaner who disposed on the offending shoes.  The situation with decent work shoes has yet to be resolved . . . By the way, Harvey was having some problems with his hair growing too long over his eyes so we gave him an emerge...

Introducing Harvey the shoe lover

Image
This is our semi-permanent house guest - Harvey Valentine - a rough-haired Jack Russell, that seems to attract muck like a magnet and has a love of shoes that more than equals mine.  We're not sure how it started or why, he has always been this way.  It's like a shoe is his comfort blanket, he either has to have one by his side or if one of us is walking through the front door then he has a mad search to bring us a shoe like its a gift. We've had a couple of mishaps along the way; usually I can restrict Harvey's access to shoes so that he can only enjoy my husbands old pair of trainers but previous a pair of M&S gold ballet pumps suffered a premature death.   Sadly I'm now suffering a Cinderella moment as my Zara ballet pumps have fallen victim to Harvey!  I now can only locate one shoe, the other has not been since for other a month despite numerous searches, I was considering the coastguard but I think Harvey is more than a match for them.  I'm p...

Introducing my new assistant

Image
I've had a bit of a hectic week so I've not been able to do any posts this week so I'd thought I'd draft a little space filler.  My dog Jasper, the Jack Russell, now has a healthy respect for shoes and  helps me keep an eye on my emails! Its amazing what you can train a dog to do with the promise of doggy treats! I also popped to my local Vue cinema last night with my friend Jo to finally watch SATC 2. The verdict - whilst I still prefer the first film, SATC 2 was exactly as expected a mix of laughs, beautiful outfits, fabulous shoes and gorgeous men. It was pure escapism and I actually lusted after the home furnishings rather than the shoes this time!  Although if I had Miranda Hobb's wardrobe then I would definitely be a happy lady!

My dog loves shoes too!

I have a six year old Jack Russell - Jasper - who shows a healthy respect for my shoes but that wasn't always the case! At less than a year old, he managed to customise my pair of hot pink 4" heels. Unfortunately the custom job meant that one shoe had suffered a number of holes created by puppy teeth whilst the other shoe remained perfect and intact. No amount of sticky tape or glue would restore them to the gorgeous fuchsia originality. Unfortunately those shoes were sent to shoe heaven and I learnt my lesson: all future shoes are boxed and placed far higher than his little legs can take him! Unfortunately these precautions did not cover my ghds that also suffered the same fate:(
