Food and drink

Image
Do you find that the majority of photos on your phone are mostly the same type of things? Lately, I seem to have taken a lots of pictures of food, drink, shoes and not much else, Even a long weekend in Bristol resulted in just two pictures of food. These two images are from a visit to True Reds BBQ in Manchester. A Smoked Brisket and Burnt Ends S'Wich accompanied by a Honey Berry Smash cocktail and some Brooklyn Brown Ale. Absolutely lush! A fresh spring day gave us the opportunity to explore the Harbourside area of Bristol a couple of weeks ago. Walking around the city gave us an appetite to enjoy some BBQ at the Spitfire BBQ restaurant.  Above is a picture of our starter Pork Rashers [ Pork Belly strips dusted with the pitfire mix and grilled until nice and crispy and then served with chopped tomatoes, onions and basil.]  It was too nice to share! Naturally I had to indulge in a cocktail and had a Seductive Strawberry milkshake that was recomm...

'Wicked' night out

Image
Usually I'm defying gravity with my high heels but last Friday I got to watch the cast of Wicked defying gravity instead. Wicked has been on my bucket list   'things to do before I'm too old to enjoy them' list for a long time, so it was great to be able to get tickets on the current UK tour, while the show is at the Manchester Palace Theatre.  It was well worth the wait; beautiful theatre . . . amazing cast . . . gorgeous songs.  I went into the show with a basic idea on what the story was about - the younger days of the witches from the Wizard of Oz - but wow, I loved how the story linked into the well-known Oz story that we have all grown to love.  I won't spoil it for anyone who's not had chance to see the show, but, if you can make sure you have chance to get Wicked !

A quick trip to Liverpool

The Liverpool Eye at Albert Dock How fast does time fly? I've just celebrated my second Wedding Anniversary.  Due to work commitments we didn't get chance to book a break this year, so we celebrated closer to home. After the wedding in Las Vegas and our first anniversary in Krakow, I can't really complain that my passport wasn't required for this trip!  We booked an overnight stay to Liverpool just over an hour's drive from Blackpool staying at the Premier Inn at the Albert Dock .  I'm lucky that we have two great cities (Manchester and Liverpool) just a drive away for a great night out and a city experience whether shopping is your preference or cool bars with an even cooler cocktail menu!  Both cities have undergone significant regeneration and they are definitely worth a visit if anyone is planning to come up North for a visit. Lucky for us, the weather was lovely so we managed to walk around the city and have a few drinks sat outside in the...

Cheap as chips

I wanted a pair of nude shoes for a planned Christmas outfit but needed to save the pennies to spend on Christmas presents.  Lucky for me then that I spotted this nude platform heels in my local Barratts shop priced at £13, with an extra instore discount I bought them for £10.97! These were part of their value range, no frills supplied with no shoe box but can you complain at those prices!  The range was quite simply consisting of these nude heels, the same in black, patent and peeptoe. I've not found the range on the website so in must be just an instore promotion but not bad if you need a quick fix to a party outfit.  The online site currently has a 20% off  everything promotion, so if you don't have chance to pop to your local store then you might find a bargain online. The shoes are really comfortable to wear and I hoping, snow permitting, to wear them for my first Christmas event on Sunday - a visit to Manchester for the Christmas markets, cocktails and kar...
