The cocktail hour that lasted nine hours

Image
Got to look fabulous at forty (me on the right)! From champagne cocktails to Home Bargain's mojito in a bag (was better than it sounds) we partied along Blackpool's Golden Mile when celebrating my friend's 40th birthday this Saturday.  The spirit was strong but my feet were not willing after nine hours of partying, perhaps it was that teatime visit to Blackpools infamous Tower Lounge that tipped my poor feet over the edge, not a place for the fair-hearted I can promise you.  I lasted from 2pm till 11pm, consuming numerous cocktails - my new favourite being the Revolution Bar's Strawberry Daiquiri (like an adult slushy drink, terrible head freeze when drank too fast!).  I managed to spend a few hours dancing too but finally my feet refused to move no more and I literally had to crawl to bed.  I just wish that there was a hangover cure as delicious as that strawberry daiquiri!

Shoe of the week

This post has been scheduled for Sunday while I am recovering from a hangover following a 40th birthday celebration at many bars along Blackpool's golden mile. What could be better for a hangover cure than feasting my eyes on these lovely Louboutins available at Cricket.

True Blue

Another sales bargain, these were £20 in an online sale.  The colour really made the decision for me, can't wait to wear them now we finally have some sun.  My photography skills are still non-existant, I don't even know how I managed to take the picture at this angle! The shoes are surprising comfy despite the high heel and detailing.

A little bit of sparkle does you good

Image
I received this lovely bracelet in an online giveaway from the Angel Wishing Moon Shop . Apologies for the pictures, they are not that great and don't do the bracelet justice, it really is so pretty.  I'm wearing it while I'm typing this post and the crystals sparkle and capture any bit of light.  It's becoming part of my everyday wardrobe so that I have that little bit of sparkle wherever I am and wherever I go. It worth taking a look at the shop, especially if you want something that little bit different. Next of my shopping list are these pretty jadeite prosperity beads , hopefully they will bring me luck!

Yellow peril

Image
I've been on the search for a pair of yellow shoes for ages when I finally spotted this pair in a sales rack. Reduced to £28 on the shop then down to £22 at the till, you can't beat that price to cross an item off your shoe shopping list. I just have to decide what to wear with them yet.

Shoe of the week

These shoes from Steve Madden are so sweet.  There is something about these candy pink shoes that screams 'I gotta have them!'

Red shoes enter the danger zone

Image
A while back, I posted about the demise of my favourite red shoes.  The untimely end was entirely my fault and I missed having a pair of red heels to brighten my day. So,  I bought these red shoes a few months ago during one of those Debenhams, I just love a good bright red shoe and these fit the bill perfectly. I've only worn them a couple of times, almost treating them like precious cargo and I've definitely promised never to lend them to short drunk Irish men!  My husband has also made me promise not to wear them to the next Deacon Blue concert that we are going to in September.  For that night I honestly think I'm either going to acquire some hobnail boots or reduce my alcohol consumption on the night.

Faking it

There's an article online on the Daily Mail website about creating a DIY Louboutin. And the only word I can think of is why? Does creating a designer shoe, that still costs you over £100 and goodness knows how much time and patience, give you that feeling of satisfaction in finding the perfect shoe? While I am lucky to have a couple of designer pairs in my shoe collection, I can still get excited about buying a pair that cost me £20.  Its about the shoe, how it makes me feel, when I'm going to wear them and what the memories I've created wearing them . . . definitely not the price.  I'm just not sure I'd want to spend hours creating a 'fake' shoe to wear out, when I could be spending the time buying a pair of shoes that are within my budget.

School Reunions - is it a do or a don't?

Image
My senior school reunion is being arranged.  It's been nearly 25 years since I left and I'm not sure if I want to go back 'there'. Am I a success or failure? Do I want to be judged by people who I last saw when perms were in, Rick Astley was still in the charts and Farah pants were the uniform essentials.   Maybe I'm thinking too much into it and should just go and enjoy a blast from the past. So I'm using YouTube to get inspired for the event. Perhaps, I'll be like Romy and Michele from Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and pretend to be an amazing success at inventing something like the post-it note or just wear something shiny and dance to an eighties tune - suggestions anyone?   Maybe I'm just worrying about about time just catching up with me . . .

Nude shoes on the block

Image
Sadly my bargain, value-range nude shoes went to that big shoe-box in the sky a few weeks ago.  I think over-use may have been the cause of their demise. Their lifespan of a year and half against a cost of £13 meant I really had them for a longer time than their life expectation.  I woke up one day after a girl's night out to find them in a state of disrepair [I blame that bottle of house rose wine I was enjoying!]. I was a bit cheesed off at having to chuck them out but my husband couldn't understand why I'd be bothered about a cheap pair of shoes when I have a pair of designer shoes in my wardrobe.  He doesn't understand that a nude pair of shoes is essential in every woman's shoe collection.  So after raising a glass [when will I learn?] to my faithful outfit essentials, I went searching for a replacement pair, finding these Ravel shoes in a sale at £32.  Handle With Care Hopefully these will last a little longer than my last pair but judging by my firs

Are these shoes - Toasted Marshallows - sweet?

Shoe of the week

Image
This week's shoe comes courtesy of Zara.  The perfect accessory that should be packed in your suitcase for any holidays planned.  I'm hoping that some of you at least have a sunny holiday planned. xx Sorry for late posting, I am holidaying at home in not-so-sunny Blackpool and spent my posting day getting a bit tipsy while watching Spain win Euro 2012.

A gift from the shoe gods

Image
You can't look a gift horse shoe in the mouth, [If anyone can explain that saying, then please add a comment] especially when they're in your size. These Nina Dolcetti shoes were gifted to me by a good friend last week. White flatforms with that splash of colour, they make a lovely designer addition to my shoe collection.  While I like them, my husband isn't convinced . . . he just doesn't get them.  They are the perfect shoe for a holiday so I'll be packing them in my case for my next holiday which unfortunately isn't until November :( Aren't they #Amazeballs!
