Shoe of the week

I'd be up for the challenge of wearing this for the whole of the Jubilee year

My intention was to research pastel shoes as I'd spotted a pair of flats that I thought would be perfect for Shoe of the Week.   Unfortunately, these shoes from Schuh grabbed my attention first.  Now, these are perfect for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year.

I'm not really sure how or if I'll be celebrating the Queen's jubilee but I can remember that I celebrated her Silver Jubilee weekend in 1977 (I was five) wearing a red, white and blue homemade dress at a school party, then attended a fancy dress street party the following day.  For her Golden Jubilee, I spent the afternoon in a bar enjoying 50p drinks while watching the big procession in London when Jimmy Savile was wowing the crowds in his trademark tracksuit.  For the 2012 celebrations, I think I'd like to participate in a proper English afternoon tea with champagne to celebrate the Queen's special year, wearing these shoes and maybe a grown up version of the red, white and blue dress.  Are you making plans to celebrate?

Shoe of the week

So, here is it, Shoe of the Week in its new time and day slot.

I went into Blackpool Town Centre today, first time I've been to the shops in ages and these shoes from Dune at Debenhams caught my eye.  I could say I feel 'head over heels' for them or they sent me dotty with the need to purchase but sadly I left these on the shelf in the shop.  What was I thinking!

Note to self

I have been a bad, bad blogger and my organisational skills has come to a complete standstill.  It honestly feels like it 'all work and no play' for me.  I hardly have chance to file my nails, let alone write blog posts, do my ironing . . .  So I've dug out my virtual To-Do list and decided to finally kick-start some things to I want or need to do this year.  So the first thing I have done is get my hair cut shorter and coloured a vibrant red (inspired by Florence and the Machine), the second thing I need to do is get my camera fixed so I can post a picture.

Getting my blog more organised and catching up on all those lovely blogs I follow will be next on my list.  I'm also sorting out an iPhone which my husband has given me following a phone upgrade, kind of like thrifting gadgets, so I'm planning to be out and about taking pictures of shoes (as if I need the excuse).  I'm also going to run my Shoe of the Week posts on a Sunday.  I thought it would be a nice way to start the week and what could be better than looking at a shoe rather than thinking about work the next day.

Shoe of the week

I know I should really be searching for snow boots or sensible flats with the current weather but I'm in denial.   The snow hasn't made its way to Blackpool yet, so I'm going to ignore the possibility of white, frosty pavements and leap forward to spring with these beauties from River Island.

New kid on the blog

I'd like to introduce my niece Olivia's Blog - Every Picture Paints a Perfect Memory. She's getting ready to choose her GCSE's and is starting to become a talented photographer.  Unfortunately, at this time she can't choose photography as a GCSE option, so she's developing a portfolio ready for further education opportunities.  The blog will be a great way to showcase her photos and share what she's working on, possibly even include posts on why One Direction are the greatest boy band that ever lived.

You might have noticed that the pictures on my blog are improving and its all down to her.  So if you could, please take a visit from time to time, and let her know what you think of her pictures.
